I remember when my boys, turning 9 tomorrow, were about 3. We were at a outdoor playdate. Jacob slid down the slide and before he could get out of the way, Lucas slid down and knocked Jacob off the slide. Tears and laughter followed. I stopped talking to my friend and walked over and helped Jacob up. I knelt down so I could be eye-to-eye with Lucas, which he was trying desparately to avoid. I said, "Lucas you hurt Jacob when you knocked him off the slide and now you're laughing which is wrong. You need to ask Jacob if he's okay and tell him you're sorry." He did and followed it up with a hug.
